Yakutat
is a remote fishing village located on the Gulf of Alaska, 380
miles southeast of Anchorage in the heart of the Tongass National
Forest. The area is a hidden treasure for fly fishermen and spincasters
alike. Bordered to the west by the Malaspina glacier which is
the largest glacier in North America and the Brabazon mountain
range to the East. The raw beauty of the land is equal to none.
From these glaciers and mountains flow the Situktle, Italio, and
Akwe Rivers and many others. These rivers have hosted runs of
salmon for thousands of years! Their raw, unspoiled beauty provides
the best fishing found in North America today.
Other inhabitants of the area that can be seen, are brown bears, black bears, mountain goat, bald eagles, seals, sealions, wolves, and wolverines.
Our trips are fully guided and outfitted. They produce the finest fishing experience Alaska has to offer. Our stream-side cabins provide warm, comfortable accommodations for your trip.
Our Silver Salmon trips take place on the Italio and Akwe Rivers. They provide excellent opportunities for fly fishing and spincasters alike. You will be fishing the lower stretches and mouths of these rivers as they flow into the Gulf of Alaska for Bright Fish just returning from the ocean. They return in large numbers from September thorough mid-October. This trip can be combined with duck and goose hunting.
